The Controller Redundancy Analyzer (CRA) utility reads an exported FHX file and identifies configuration practices that may cause an output disruption on a controller switchover. We strongly recommend that you use this standalone utility prior to running the DeltaV Upgrade Wizard.
A manual switchover is part of the process of upgrading redundant controllers. Use the CRA utility to identify and investigate any potential issues that the utility reports and to eliminate them prior to the manual switchover performed during the upgrade. Some potential issues will not be issues at all because, for example, the utility cannot infer the outcome of expression logic. If a real issue is reported, modify your configuration to permanently prevent an output disruption caused by an unplanned switchover. For one type of configuration practice the utility creates an FHX file that you can import to modify the configuration.
The utility is intuitive and easy to use. Use a File menu option to browse to an FHX file to analyze. When the analysis is complete, the report loads into a grid. The analysis may take a few minutes to a few hours depending on the database size and your computer. Each row in the grid is a potential issue found. There are a number of columns with information to help locate the potential issue in the configuration. Double-click a row to view information about the particular usage type and what action you should take.
