Alarm Help (View)

From the Alarm Help View dialog you can enter the path to an alarm to display its configured help (if any). The Alarm Help View and Edit application is highly configurable so refer to your plant's standard operating procedures to find out how alarm help is implemented and used in your location.

At the top of the dialog is the alarm path field. Enter the path of an alarm (in the form object/alarm) to view the alarm's help. You can use the dropdown button to select from the 10 most recently viewed alarms. To the right of the path field are two buttons:

• -- Opens the Modify dialog if you have sufficient privilege to modify alarm help.
• -- Opens this help file.

The next section of the dialog contains the following information about the alarm:

• The tag of the node, module, or other object in alarm.
• The configured description for that object.
• The alarm parameter and priority.
• The functional classification of the alarm (if configured).
• Time to Respond - The configured amount of time in which to respond to the alarm.

When the amount of time left to respond to the alarm is available, this field includes a timer that is initially in green text. The timer counts down until time expires. When the timer reaches zero the text changes to red.

• Alarm State

If the Time In time for the alarm is available and the alarm is active the field includes the time (in days, hours, and minutes) between current time and the alarm’s Time In time.  

• Suppression Reason - The specified reason for suppressing an alarm.
• Consequence of inaction 
• Explanation of consequence of inaction

By default the remainder of the dialog contains the following fields:

• Text Field 1 (default label: Recommended Action) 
• Text Field 2 (default label: Probable Cause) 
• Text Field 3 (default label: Design Information) 

One or more of these text fields may have been removed or relabeled.
