Connect to batch history data source

You can connect to different batch history data sources to view current and archived data. The archived database must be attached to be viewed. Refer to the Batch Historian Administrator’s Interface to attach archives.

  1. Select FileConnect To… from the menu.
  2. In the Selected Database: field, choose from the list or enter the name of the database.
    Note

This field defaults to the main database. If no other data sources are listed, you must type the name.

    Note

This field only allows 28 characters. Archived databases can be named with up to 40 characters. Refer to the instructions below for that procedure.

  3. In the Selected Source: field, choose the Batch Historian computer name from the list.
  4. Click OK.
    Note

If an error in connecting occurs, you can return to the Connect To dialog by clicking OK in the BHV message box, and on the SQL Server Login message box. Then click Cancel in the SQL Server Login dialog.

For Database Names Longer than 28 Characters

    1. Select FileConnect To… from the menu.
    2. In the Selected Database: field, type part of the name, and then click OK.
    3. The connection attempt will fail. Click OK.
    4. In the SQL Server Login dialog, click the Options>> button.
    5. In the Database field, select your database name from the list.
    6. Click OK.
