Adding Emerson Smart Firewalls to the Network Device Command Center (NDCC)

Prior to adding the firewall, it must already be configured in the WebUI.

When you add an Emerson Smart Firewall, the firewall is given a network address and creates a corresponding control module so that firewall hardware conditions can be interpreted as DeltaV alarms. Adding the firewall to the NDCC also provides access to firewall diagnostics.

An Emerson Smart Firewall is added using the Network Device Command Center (NDCC) application. The NDCC is accessed from an icon in the toolbar of the DeltaV Explorer or Diagnostics or from the utilities menu of DeltaV Operate. Smart Firewalls are not automatically detected by the NDCC; they must be manually added through the Add Firewall dialog.

The corresponding control module created when adding an Emerson Smart Firewall is created from the module class FW_STDCFG_$W. This module class holds common firewall setup information and hardware alarm behavior configuration for Smart Firewalls on the DeltaV 2.5 network.
