Restore a backup of historical data sets

To restore a historical data set after it has been backed up either manually or by a scheduled backup task, the backed up data set from the Primary storage area must first be deleted. The user must have the DeltaV security key for the HDS_RESTORE function, and then complete the following steps:

  1. Select the Restore DeltaV Continuous Historian Data icon on the toolbar or select Restore DeltaV Continuous Historian Data from the Tools menu.
  2. Browse to the folder containing the backup file(s) for the data set(s) to be restored.
Details of the data sets in the specified backup folder appear in the Backup details of files to be restored window. For additional details, right-click a data set, and then select Properties.
  3. Click the OK button.
All data sets in the specified backup folder are restored. The Restore DeltaV Continuous Historian Data dialog shows the progress of the restore process and informs you if there are any errors.

If you interrupt the restore operation by clicking the Abort button, any data set already restored is not affected, however, restoration of a data set that is in progress is not completed.

    Note

It may take longer than expected to delete a partially-restored data set.

  4. After the restore process completes, click the Close button.
