Follow these steps
before using the Device Signal Simulator. These steps are for one controller
and one module. The system supports multiple controllers and modules.
Configure the control system module or SIS module that you want to
test.
Assign device signal tags to module I/O blocks using the
Assign I/O
→ To Signal Tag in
Control Studio. Device placeholders are not required. If a device placeholder
exists, it can be unallocated or assigned to a CHARM/WIOC/CSLS/channel. An
unassigned I/O reference may also be used.
Configure a virtual controller placeholder in Explorer. In the
node properties, select one of the following:
SVIRTUAL (S-series controller)
MVIRTUAL (M-series controller)
SZVIRTUAL (SIS controller)
PK1500VIRTUAL (PK controller)
For S-series, M-series, SIS, or PK controllers, select the
Simulate device parameter values check box in
the controller properties dialog.
This enables the controller to support values from the
Device Signal Simulator. Some set ups may require a virtual CIOC or CSLS. There
is no check box for the CIOC or the CSLS.
Assign your module to the placeholder.
Using DeltaV Virtual Studio or Hyper-V Manager, create or import
the controller VM that matches your placeholder. Start the virtual controller
and connect it to your DeltaV network. The virtual controller appears as a
decommissioned node in DeltaV Explorer.
Commission the controller placeholder to the decommissioned VM
controller.
