Back Up Event Chronicle Data

The Backup Status column in the Event Chronicle Administration application displays the current backup status of a data set. The following values can appear in this column:

Value

Description

Modified

Either the data set has changed since the last time it was backed up or the data set has never been backed up.

Backed Up

The data set has been backed up and no data has changed since the last time it was backed up.

Note

During manually-initiated backup operations, screen updates to the value in the Backup Status column are suspended.

You can use the Back up Data Set(s) command to back up all the current data sets to a directory of your choice. (It is recommended that you select a directory location on the current workstation, but outside the DeltaV system directory.) The resulting backup is a collection of data files that may be restored as a collection of current history data sets. Backing up the Event Chronicle data does not delete the data sets from primary storage.

  1. Select the primary storage area from the left pane of the main display.
  2. Click Tools | Backup Data Set(s).
  3. Browse to the directory to which you would like the files backed up.
  4. Select the backup option. You can back up all data sets or only those that have not been backed up.
  5. Click Backup. The Backup dialog shows the progress of each data set as it is backed up and informs you if there are any errors.
