Tools required for the installation

Installing fieldbus devices and segments is similar to installing other types of devices or products. Many of the standard electrical tools are required for the installation:

• Voltmeter
• Wire cutters
• Wire strippers
• Pliers
• Screwdrivers

Fieldbus is also a communications network. In addition to the standard electrical tools you will need the following tools for troubleshooting communications networks:

• Fluke 123 or 124 Digital Scope Meter or equivalent scope with resistance, DC voltage, and capacitance measurement capability. (Most capacitance meters measure components only and may not provide the expected results when measuring a complete segment.)
