Recommended sequence for installing I.S. CHARMs hardware

The installation sequence described in this topic is only a recommendation. You can perform these steps in the order that best meets the needs of your project.

  1. Install vertical DIN rails.
  2. Snap the CHARM I/O Carrier onto the DIN rail.
  3. Connect and install up to eight I.S. CHARM Baseplates under the CHARM I/O Carrier on the DIN rail. Be sure to install a Separation Wall on each I.S. Baseplate. Install I.S. Baseplates sequentially from top to bottom.
    Important

I.S. CHARM Baseplates can be installed under the same CIOC as standard (non I.S.) CHARM Baseplates. All standard baseplates must be installed between the CIOC Carrier and the I.S. CHARM Baseplate. I.S. CHARMs and standard CHARMs are not interchangeable. I.S. CHARMs must be installed only in I.S. CHARM Terminal Blocks on I.S. CHARM Baseplates.

Note that the ASCO 580 CHARM node is not a standard CHARM baseplate. The ASCO 580 must terminate the CIOC node and not be installed between the CIOC Carrier and the I.S. CHARM Baseplate.

  4. Install the column terminator to the last I.S. CHARM Baseplate. Be sure to install a Separation Wall on each terminator.
  5. Install the DIN Rail Stop after the column terminator to prevent the baseplates from slipping down on the DIN rail.
  6. Wire the devices to the terminal blocks and perform field wiring checkout.
  7. Connect the bulk power supplies to the CHARM I/O Carrier.
  8. Install the CHARM I/O Cards (CIOC) onto the CHARM I/O Carrier.
  9. Install the I.S. CHARMs.
  10. Connect the CIOC to the DeltaV Control Network.
  11. Daisy chain CIOCs (optional).
