Wiring guidelines

Stranded or solid wire and shielded or twisted pair wire can be used with a DeltaV system.

Stranded or solid wire

The power and grounding terminals and field termination points on the carriers' terminal blocks are 2.8 mm by 2.5 mm (2.8 mm x 2.5 mm). The maximum recommended wire size for the terminals is 14 AWG, stranded or solid gauge wire or a 14 AWG ferrule. To select wire, calculate the maximum current limit expected for each wire and refer to your local electrical codes that define the wire size required for a specific current.

Shielded or twisted pair wire

Shielded twisted pair wiring is recommended for low-level signal wiring to reduce susceptibility to noise. A shield ground bar to isolate and drain field noise away from the DeltaV system is integrated into the 8-Wide I/O Carrier and the CHARM Baseplate.
