Open an existing simulation file

  1. Click FileOpen, select the trend settings file (filename.mpcs), and then click OK.
  2. Select the simulation file and click OK.
  3. Select the controller model and click OK.
    Note

The simulation and controller model files are listed in chronological order.

When you save a simulation file, any changes that you made to the graph, trends, and unmeasured load disturbance values are saved with the file. The next time you open MPC Simulate in context with a model that has a simulation file saved for it, the model is opened with the saved changes. In addition, the bias, amplitude, and time period previously used become the defaults.

Note

Once MPC Simulate is running, you can open the same file or browse to the same block to select a different simulation model. If you open a different file or browse to a different MPC block, you will receive a warning similar to the following:

"Warning - browsing for a block other than the one used to launch this application does not support using the actual Control Horizon, Patience Factor, Penalty on Error, or Penalty on Move values from the database if they are different than the default values. To simulate using the actual values, this application must be relaunched from Predict."

If you receive this warning, you must select both a simulation model (to be tested) and a controller model (for control generation) however, the database values (listed above) may not be initialized. It is highly recommended that you relaunch MPC Simulate from MPC Predict to ensure that the actual database values are used.

Selecting a model that does not match the actual block will abort the simulation.
