OPC Mirror user accounts needed

There are specific accounts required when installing and configuring OPC Mirror to work with a DeltaV OPC server. These rules apply to each DeltaV OPC server to which you are connecting.

Installation creates a new local Windows group (DeltaVOpcMirrorUsers) and assigns the needed database permissions to that group. All OPC Mirror users (those that configure OPC Mirror) must be a member of that group.

If you are using a third-party OPC server, consult the vendor for information on how to connect to the server.

Note

Due to enhanced security measures on the OPC Mirror computer, hard drive write access is limited to administrators on that computer and the OPC Mirror service runs as a non-administrator account. This means that any third-party OPC servers that need to write to the hard drive must be configured to run as a specific user, not the OPC Mirror Service account, or any logged on user account (which might not be an administrator-level account).

Consult your third-party vendor to verify the types of accounts needed and modify the third-party service's run as user and possible the third-party server's DCOM settings.

Note

When connecting from an OPC Mirror client in a workgroup to a DeltaV OPC server in a domain, the accounts on the DeltaV system must be both local and domain accounts.

Anytime the accounts exist on both the server and client sides, you must match the passwords for that account.

The DeltaV database user accounts must have the appropriate DeltaV keys/areas/nodes applied.
