Communication
This page shows the communication status of the DeltaV PK controller and
compares it to the active project's controller.
- PK controller
- Displays the connected controller's name. The controller and the
computer running this administration tool must both be connected to the same
network in order to locate the controller.
- When connected to a decommissioned controller,
(decommissioned) is displayed. Click the DeltaV Explorer
icon (button) to launch DeltaV Explorer where you can commission the
controller.

The Standalone DeltaV PK
controller must be commissioned and authenticated; and, the relevant protocol
enabled, before you can communicate with the local HMI panel.
- Communication
- The details about the communication status are displayed.
- In order to be authenticated, you must have entered a password for
the controller.
- Network line
- Displays a good status (green checkmark) when the network settings
are correct for full communication with the connected controller.
- Active Project
- Verifies if the currently connected and communicating controller
exists in the active project (and therefore the current controller can be
downloaded with the active project's configuration.
- If the currently connected controller is not found in the active
project, the following options are given
- Switch to a project that contains the currently connected
controller.
- Retrieve a backup from the currently connected controller into
the active project.
- More suggestions are offered based on the issue; for example,
to switch to a different controller, or to manually decommission the controller
and recommission it in the active project.
- Change password for PK controller button
- Next to the image of the controller along the network line are
icons. The top icon allows you to change (set) the password for the controller.
- Set PK controller Time
- Next to the image of the controller along the network line are
icons. The middle icon sets the time of the controller. The controller is the
master time server for the unit.
- Select PK controller
- Next to the image of the controller along the network line are
icons. The bottom icon allows you to enter the PK controller's IP address. The
dialog opens to the default IP address. If you have changed the controller's IP
address, use the dialog to specify the address for the controller to which you
are connecting.
- Any time you switch projects, you must enter that project's PK
controller's IP address (if not set to the default of 10.4.0.9).
