DeltaV Predict overview

The MPC function block implements multivariable control in the DeltaV system. When a module that contains the MPC function block is downloaded, all inputs and outputs are assigned to the Continuous Historian. The DeltaV Predict application uses this historical data to automatically create process models and control definitions used by the MPC function block. The DeltaV Predict application:

• Automatically trends MPC block inputs and outputs
• Tests the process (runs an automated psuedo-random test using user-entered values for step size, response time, and number of test cycles)
• Creates and displays a process model (model can be modified by expert user)
• Verifies the accuracy of the model
• Generates MPC control
• Commissions the MPC function block
