Change all switch management passwords on a network

The switch management password is the password needed to communicate between Network Device Command Center and the switch. The logged on DeltaV user needs the CAN CONFIGURE and CAN DOWNLOAD privileges to change the switch management password.

Note

The switch management password is not the same as an interactive account's password. The interactive accounts are called User and Admin. Those passwords can be changed from the switch command line interface or the HTTP (web) interface.

This procedure changes the switch management password for ALL commissioned switches on a single network. The switch management password is generated for you, updated in each switch, encrypted, and saved in each switch's module.

Tip

Another method is to change the password on each switch individually so that you can validate communications on a switch by switch basis.

Select the network where the commissioned switches exist.
Right click and select Change Smart Switch Managment Password For All Switches from the context menu.
Select Yes when prompted to generate the password.
Complete the download of the switch modules.

If prompted, you can upload any changes made to the running system prior to performing the switch module download.
Click Close to close the Setting Smart Switch Management Password Status dialog.
