Change the firewall's management password

The firewall's management password (also called the SNMP password) is the password needed to communicate between Network Device Command Center (NDCC) and the firewall. The logged on DeltaV user needs the CAN CONFIGURE and CAN DOWNLOAD privileges to change the firewall's management password.

Note

The firewall's management password is not the same as an interactive accounts' passwords. The default interactive accounts are named User and Admin. Those passwords can be changed from the firewall's WebUI (HTTP) interface.

This procedure changes the firewall's management password in NDCC and the DeltaV firewall module. It does not change the management password on the actual firewall. That must be done from the firewall's WebUI (HTTP) interface.

  1. Change the password on the firewall using the firewall's WebUI (HTTP) interface.

Help for the firewall's WebUI is available within the WebUI. Refer to that for how and on what page to change the firewall's management password.

  2. In NDCC, select the firewall and right click.

Firewalls are listed as commissioned devices under the network to which they are connected.

  3. Right click and select Advanced Device Operations → Change Smart Firewall Managment Password from the context menu.
  4. Read the message and click Yes to confirm you have read it, understand it, and want to continue.
  5. Enter the new password (in the New SNMP Password field) exactly as it was entered in the firewall's WebUI interface.

SNMP password is the management password.

  6. Enter the new password again (in the Confirm SNMP Password field) exactly as it was entered in the firewall's WebUI interface.
  7. Complete the download of the firewall module.

If prompted, you can upload any changes made to the running system prior to performing the firewall module download.

  8. Click Close to close the Setting Smart Firewall Management Password Status dialog.
