Essential files and a DeltaV system

Compare the computer's current files to the DeltaV installed essential files

DeltaV Security Administration provides an audit comparison of the current essential files in the DeltaV directories with those that were installed during standard DeltaV installation. An essential file that has been added to the DeltaV directories as a result of installing an optional DleatV feature, DeltaV add-in, or DeltaV hotfix are listed as a change. You can mark a changed file (or select multiple files) as an approved changed.

The report shows the file name, the location, the date last modified, file size, file version number, and source (as either DeltaV Default or Current State).

The source specifies from where the information was derived.
DeltaV Default
The information displayed was derived from the DeltaV installation. The default DeltaV files list can be viewed on the DeltaV Essential Files' As Set by DeltaV Install page.
Current State
The information displayed was derived from capturing a list of the files in the DeltaV directories at the time of the report. The list of all files can be viewed by itself on the DeltaV Essential Files' Current Settings page.
  1. Run DeltaV Security Administration.
  2. Expand the DeltaV Essential Files on the Workstation item.
  3. Select the Audit Report Showing Differences item.
The report displays in the right pane.
  4. Scroll through the list of files noting any highlighted rows.
Highlighted text denotes a difference from the DeltaV installed default.
    • Yellow highlight - The Essential Files are different. The file is listed twice, showing the current state of the file and the DeltaV installed version.
    • Red highlight - The Essential file is either new or missing.
    • Green highlight - The Essential File difference/change is approved (that is, the file was once highlighted as red or yellow but that change is allowed and approved).
  5. Approve, reset to default, or undo change approval for any highlighted file where the source is Current State.
    1. Select the highlighted file.
    2. Right click.
    3. Select one of the following (options change depending on what the difference is):
      • Add this Essential File as an approved change This sets the highlight to green.
      • Reset the Essential File back to the DeltaV default This removes the highlight once the changes are applied to the file.
      • Remove this Essential File as an approved change This removes the approval and sets the highlight back to the original color.
    Note

The list might need to be refreshed to see the new highlight. Simply open a new page (for example, Current Settings) and then go back to the Audit Report page.
