Modify the snapshot path

This procedure describes how to modify the path where the virtual machine's snapshots are stored.

  1. Open the VirtualBox Manager.
  2. Shut down the virtual machine.

    Choose the option that mimics gracefully powering down a machine (versus simply pulling the power cord). Options can vary by VirtualBox version.

  3. Open the virtual machine's Settings dialog.
  4. Click the Advanced tab of the General section.
  5. Set the path to the location you want in the Snapshot Folder field.

    Select other options as best fits your scenario. Leaving the defaults is appropriate in most cases.

  6. When done, close all windows and dialogs (saving if prompted) and restart the virtual machine.
