Defer a parameter
To defer the step parameter up to the procedure level, use the following steps:
- At the operation level, create the recipe parameter AMOUNT as a deferred parameter. Then access the recipe step assigned to phase XFER_IN and defer the phase parameter AMT_TO_ADD to the recipe parameter AMOUNT.
- Edit the unit procedure and create the recipe parameter ADD_AMOUNT as a deferred parameter. Then, access the step assigned to the operation configured above and defer the step parameter, AMOUNT to the ADD_AMOUNT recipe parameter.
- At the procedure level, you access the values for step parameters to which the above unit procedures are assigned and set the parameter values based on the specific recipe. Alternatively, you can create a top-level recipe parameter, and set the value at run time, with additional formulas if needed.
By creating this chain of parameters, you pass desired values all the way down to the phase. This approach lets you incorporate generic operations that are shared by multiple master recipes into your control strategy.
Note:
Only parameters of the category Process Input can be deferred (to both input and report parameters).
