Unit supervision

Unit supervision ties the recipe to equipment control. The main control functions performed as part of unit supervision include:

  • Acquiring the required units and execute operations.

  • Managing unit resources for both the acquired unit and services provided by other units.

  • Collecting batch and unit information, including status changes and derived values, for process information management.

The DeltaV system uses the equipment requirements defined in the recipe procedure to list the units on which the batch can execute. Prior to starting a batch, the operator binds equipment to the batch by selecting the specific units to use. During batch execution, the DeltaV system allocates the selected units to the batch. The unit operations, defined in the recipe procedure, are run on the allocated units.
