Hold batches on switchover option
Active batches can be held on switchover by configuring the Batch Executive's option, Hold any running batches on switchover, in the Batch Application Manager's Advanced Configuration Settings. The default value is No. When set to Yes, you can investigate the cause of the switchover before allowing the batches to proceed. Changing this option does not require a download.
Each constituent batch executes a HOLD as soon as successfully recovered on the new active, subsequent to the switchover, provided the batch was in one of the following states: RUNNING, STARTING, RESTARTING. The batch is held from the top level, regardless of the mode. Additionally, the mode of each level is preserved.
The option, Hold any running batches on switchover, applies to the Redundant Batch system and is not available for a simplex Batch system.
Batches can go to Held after switchover even if the option, Hold any running batches on switchover, is not enabled. This can be due to latency of synchronization data (persisted information not being transferred due to issues of data transfer across the network) or due to a download to the controller making the phase be idle or unloaded.
