Areas

Areas within the DeltaV Explorer are used for creating logical groupings of equipment (process cells) and control strategies. Areas are not class-based objects and do not have properties that can be instantiated. To increase manageability of your batch system, areas can be assigned to a specific Batch Executive. An area can be assigned to only one Batch Executive at a time.

User security is based on areas. A user, such as an operator, can have operation keys (BATCH_ADD, for example) assigned site-wide or by specific areas. This is important when designing your recipes and equipment. Operators can only load recipes and select equipment in areas where they have the appropriate privileges.
