Reduce Busy values.

Some real-time values may show up as Busy if the computer is heavily loaded or if you are using the interface features of Process History View (scrolling, paging, and so on) that cause a lot of historical data to be fetched (for example, multiple uses or a large time span). To perform an analysis of data, add the parameter to history collection. When you see gaps in the real time portion of the interface, refresh the data to read the historical values. This typically fills in the Busy values with data unless the data cannot be obtained from the source.

View event history from a Remote Operator Station

In order to view event history from a Remote Operator Station, you must use another DeltaV workstation as the default events data server. To do this, configure Process History View to connect to a workstation where the DeltaV Alarms and Events subsystem is enabled.

You can configure the default data server on the Event Chronicle tab of the Set Default Data Servers dialog (click File → Set Default Data Servers) or in the Configure Event Chronicle dialog for a specific Events or E+Charts page (click Events → Configure Events).

Limit the number of pages open

Only keep up to 4 pages of trends open in Process History View, each with a maximum of 8 tags plotted for optimal application performance.

Keep the chart update rate greater than 2 seconds

By default, the update rate is 5 seconds. Keeping the rate above 2 seconds is recommended for optimal chart performance.

Keep the number of events over the time span from being too large

Process History View chart performance corresponds, for the most part, with the number of events in the Alarms and Events database for the time span specified on the chart.

Larger data sets to be retrieved and filtered for display take time.

Either reduce the size of the data set (under Alarms and Events properties in DeltaV Explorer); or, split the plant areas into multiple Event Chronicle so that there are fewer events stored in each Alarms and Events database.
