LS CHARMs should be proof tested according to the specified proof test interval to ensure there are no dangerous faults present that are not being detected by continuous runtime diagnostics. A manual proof test for a CHARM is initiated from a DeltaV workstation and causes the LS CHARM to go through reset and power-up testing. Choose the proof test interval for an LS CHARM based on the associated SIF.
When LS CHARMs are proof tested, reseated in their carrier, or removed and replaced, DeltaV generates CHARM subsystem mismatch advisory alerts and alarms on the containing CSLS. These alerts and alarms are temporary and clear themselves after a few moments. The alarms can be disabled but the alerts cannot be disabled.
