Clean a database

Do not start the Clean Database function (or Extended Clean function) on two different databases at the same time or at the same time as a Scheduled Daily Extended Clean.

  1. Select Start → DeltaV Engineering → Database Administration.
  2. Double-click the Clean Database icon.
  3. Select a database name from the list.
  4. Optionally, click Force disconnect of all clients to allow database clean. This disconnects applications from the database and aborts any actions the application was processing.
    The Force Disconnect does not happen immediately. It can take a few minutes for each connection to be disconnected depending on the number of connections and the load on the system.
  5. Click the Clean button to rollback transactions that have terminated abnormally, or click the Extended Clean button to consolidate and defragment the database in addition to rolling back transactions that have terminated abnormally.
    You can schedule an Extended Clean to occur daily using the options on the Schedule Daily Extended Clean tab.
  6. After the database has been cleaned, click OK on the confirmation button.
  7. Click the Close button.
