System whitelist

The system whitelist is a system-wide, DeltaV Live string standard that contains a list of all approved website URLs. Approved URLs can be accessed from any DeltaV Live node on this system (such as through the web browser element).

URLs not listed in the system whitelist standard cannot be accessed.

Creating the system whitelist standard

The system whitelist standard ($UrlWhiteList) does not exist in the DeltaV Live library by default; you must create and populate this standard. If the standard does not exist or does not contain a value, DeltaV Live restricts web browsing to the local computer.

When configuring the system whitelist, the following rules apply:

  • The standard must be created as a string standard (not as a private string or multi-language string).
  • The Name of the standard must be $UrlWhiteList. (This is the required name and is reserved for this use only.)
    • The Name is case-sensitive and must be spelled exactly as seen here.
    • The standard can be located anywhere under the Standards folder in the Graphics Studio Library Explorer.
  • URLs must be entered in the standard's Value field.
    • Use semi-colons to separate URLs. For example, http://mywebpage.com;https://companywebpage.com.
    • Do not use spaces or quotation marks in a URL.
    • Enter the exact URL. For example:

      http://mywebpage.com does not match http://mywebpage.co

      http://mywebpage.com does not match http://mywebpage.com.mydomain.net

    • Do not enter a trailing slash if you want to allow the entire URL.

A URL with a trailing slash matches only the subpages of that URL. For example, http://mywebpage.com/ matches only http://mywebpage.com/pages.html (where pages represents any subpage filename) and does not match http://mywebpage.com.

    • Specify the protocol (HTTP or HTTPS) in the URL.
