Device failure alarm example

This example shows how to define a module alarm for the communication status of a fieldbus device and its associated controller.

  1. Open the module.
  2. In the Alarm View, right-click, and then select Add.
  3. Select the alarm, right-click, and then select Properties.
  4. In the Alarm Properties dialog, enter the requested information, click the Browse button next to the alarm parameter, and then click the module-level parameter BAD_ACTIVE. Click OK.
  5. Click the Advanced tab and in the Message parameter 1 field, enter BAD_ACTIVE again. Click OK.
  6. Select the block that is functioning in the fieldbus device, and then double-click the BAD_MASK parameter.
  7. In the Values field, check Other Error. Other Error indicates a communication error between the fieldbus device and the DeltaV Controller. Click OK.
