Launch a document from a description field

Dialog description fields support paths to most document types. For example, you can provide a path to a Microsoft Word document, an HTML document, or a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and launch the document from the description field.
Note

The description field accepts file system paths and paths that use the File protocol. The File protocol can be part of the path, but is not required. For example, when referring to the file MaintShutdown.htm in the drive C: base directory, you use use either the file system path (C:\MaintShutdown.htm) or the File protocol (File://C:\MaintShutdown.htm).

  1. Navigate to the description field.
  2. Select the path and document name.
  3. Right-click Launch.
