This section gives a general overview of the DeltaV Operate environment. It describes the configure and run-time environments and explains such basic operations as navigating the system tree (a hierarchical view of system files), working with documents, and opening, saving, and backing up files. It also contains more advanced topics, such as creating custom toolbars and buttons and customizing the operator environment. If you are skilled in Visual Basic you can write scripts to customize and automate many DeltaV Operate activities, such as run-time data entry.
DeltaV Operate graphics are created and saved as ActiveX documents. This allows you to view your pictures in any application that supports ActiveX controls, such as DeltaV Operate or Internet Explorer. In fact, you can think of DeltaV Operate as a container for ActiveX controls. Thus, you can also integrate ActiveX documents from other programs, such as Word and Excel, with your DeltaV Operate files. Like DeltaV Operate documents, ActiveX documents appear in the DeltaV Operate work area. If you create custom ActiveX documents, DeltaV Operate automatically displays the menus and toolbars that these documents define when you open them.
