Set HART device variable codes

DeltaV Explorer provides an interface to HART device and dynamic variables, as well as a way to input device variable codes. HART device variables, dynamic variables, and device codes are available through the HART AO channel associated with the HART-compatible device.

  1. Navigate to the HART AO channel (System Configuration/Physical Network/Control Network/controller/I/O/card).
  2. Select the channel. If necessary, verify that this is a HART AO channel by right-clicking the channel, and then clicking Properties on the context menu.
  3. In the right pane, right-click the DV_SLOT_CONFIG channel parameter, and then click Properties.
    Note:
The DV_SLOT_CONFIG Properties dialog enables you to check which slots you want to configure. Selecting a check box instructs the HART device to read the value in the associated DV_SLOT HART parameter. For example, when the Configure Slot 0 Device is selected, the HART device reads the value of the DV_SLOT0_CODE parameter (this is another HART AO channel parameter) and writes its response to the HART_DV_SLOT0 parameter.
  4. Select the slots for which you want to configure values.
  5. For each selected slot, right-click the associated DV_SLOT (for example, DV_SLOT0_CODE), click Properties, and then enter the HART code in the Values field of the DV_SLOT_CODE Properties dialog.
    Note:
Valid codes depend on the connected device. The codes are sent using the HART command 3, 9, or 33. Refer to the vender documentation for the device to determine the codes supported by commands 3, 9, and 33.

You can then access the return values through the corresponding HART_DV_SLOT channel parameters.
