Unassign a license

  1. Navigate to the node (System Configuration/Physical Network/Control Network)
  2. Right-click the node.
  3. Click Licensing → Unassign a License.
  4. Select a license to unassign.
    Note:
This dialog contains only licenses that can be unassigned. A license cannot be unassigned if it is required for the current configuration. You need to do one or more of the following to unassign a license required by the current configuration:
    • Change your configuration such that the license is no longer required (for example with a scale-up or add-on license).
    • Delete the node to release a base license (not recommended if the node is required and in use).
    • Decommission the standby controller in a redundant pair to unassign the Controller Redundancy license.
  5. When unassigning a Serial I/O Driver license, use the following steps:
    1. Select the serial device, right-click and select Delete. Repeat this step until all the serial devices within the serial port have been deleted.
    2. Select the port, right-click and select Properties. Select the Port tab and then clear the Enabled checkbox to disable the port.
    3. Select the controller node, right-click and select Licensing  → Unassign A License.
    4. Select the Serial I/O Driver from the node and click OK.
    5. When it is safe to download (that is, the process can withstand a temporary disruption) and after un-assigning the Serial I/O Driver license, select the serial card, right-click and select Download → Serial Card. The entire Serial Card will be downloaded.
  6. To verify that the license has been released, do one of the following:
    • Select the node where the license had previously been assigned. Right-click and select Licensing → Licensing Properties. The license will no longer be listed for this node.
    • Select the to which you need to reassign the license, right-click and select Licensing → Assign License. The released (unassigned) license is listed and available for use
