Manually commission a wireless device

You can commission a wireless device to an existing placeholder or create a placeholder when you commission the device.

  1. Right-click a wireless device placeholder.
  2. Select Commission on the context menu.
  3. In the dialog that appears select a device and click OK.
    Note:
    The wireless device icon changes to show that it has been commissioned.

You can also commission a wireless device by dragging it to a device placeholder in the WIOC.

If the manufacturer and device type do not match an error dialog appears. If the revision does not match a warning appears. If the commission is successful, the revision, device ID, and device long tag of the placeholder are updated in the database with the values read from the device. The device placeholder is shown as commissioned.

You can also drag the decommissioned device to the Devices folder. In this case a placeholder is created with the manufacturer, device type, revision, device ID, and device long tag set from the values read from the device. If the long tag is valid and unique within DeltaV, the DeltaV device tag is copied from the long tag. The device placeholder is shown as commissioned.
