Set a controller to restart after a power failure

  1. Navigate to the controller (System Configuration/Physical Network/Control Network).
  2. Right-click the controller.
  3. Click Properties.
  4. Click the Controller tab.
  5. In the Cold restart perform within boxes, specify the time within which a restart can occur for this node after power is restored. Set the cold restart time to at least two minutes. In some cases, a time of one minute may not allow for necessary network messaging to occur before the restart time elapses.
    Note:
A cold restart is an automatic restart of the controller in which the controller powers up, downloads all lost configuration data and on-line changes, and resumes processing. If you do want cold restarts to work, be sure to keep the controller restart memory current.
    Note:
Depending on your process, you may not want a cold restart to occur after a long power loss. If you never want this controller to perform a cold restart, enter 0 in these time fields. if you set the time boxes to zero, the controller will not restart automatically after power is restored.
