Move WirelessHART devices between WIOCs

During the life of a project you may need to move WirelessHART devices between WIOCs in a DeltaV system. This topic explains how.

  1. In DeltaV Explorer under Assigned Wireless I/O, decommission the WirelessHART devices to be moved.
  2. Delete controller assignments by selecting each device then selecting Delete Assignment from the context menu.
  3. Under Wireless I/O Network, move (cut and paste or drag and drop) WirelessHART devices to a different WIOC in the same DeltaV system.
  4. Delete any unused configuration in the WIOC from which the devices were moved.
  5. Update the download status of the WIOC from which the devices were moved.
  6. Use a HART handheld communicator, change the Network ID and Common Join Key of the devices to match those of the new WIOC.
  7. Wait for the devices to appear in the new WIOC's Decommissioned Devices folder and clear from the previous WIOC's Decommissioned Devices folder.

    It may take up to an hour before you can move to the next step.

  8. Commission the HART devices to the new WIOC.
  9. Assign the WirelessHART devices to a controller.
  10. Download the WirelessHART devices.
