A placeholder is a device that exists in the database with no physical
device associated with it. You can add a fieldbus device placeholder to a
controller that has a fieldbus card. The fieldbus card can be a physical card
or a placeholder.
From the DeltaV Explorer hierarchy, navigate to the port you want
to connect the device to (System Configuration/Physical
Network/Control Network/controller/I/O/card).
