Replace wireless devices

  1. Configure the replacement wireless device with the Network ID and Join Key of the WIOC to be joined, using either a 475 Handheld or Hart Modem connected to AMS.
If the Hart Modem connected to AMS is used, the Network ID and Join Key can be simply configured by dragging and dropping the device from the HART Modem to the WIOC.
  2. Select Enable Active Advertising from the WIOCs context menu and specify the number of minutes that active advertising runs.
This allows the new wireless device to join the network faster.
  3. Decommission from the WIOC the old device being replaced. The Controller assignment for the device being replaced does not need to be changed.
This will remove the old device from the WIOC and any control strategies being used.
  4. Check DeltaV Explorer to see if the new device has appeared in the Decommissioned Wireless Devices under the WIOC.
It should appear within 15 minutes of the device being configured and the Active Advertising being enabled. Once it is in the decommissioned list, proceed to step five.
    Note:
This is a 15-minute estimate based on a 32-second, or faster, update rate for the wireless device.
  5. Commission into the device placeholder of the old device that was previously decommissioned and is being replaced.
  6. Download the new wireless device in DeltaV Explorer.
This will allow the DeltaV and AMS databases to sync.
  7. Perform Scan Device on the newly commissioned device from DeltaV Explorer context menu of the device.
This will update AMS with the new device information.
  8. Rebuild Hierarchy for the DeltaV Network in AMS Device Manager to verify that it is synced with the DeltaV database.
The wireless device is now replaced in DeltaV and AMS.
