Configure a backup Link Master (LAS)

  1. Navigate to the port where you want to add the device.
  2. Right-click the port.
  3. Click New Fieldbus Device.
  4. On the dialog, select a device and a device revision level that are Link Master capable.
    Note:
    This may require you to import a device. The fieldbus device descriptions that are installed with DeltaV do not currently include Link Master capable device descriptions.
  5. Select address 20. This is the only valid address for a backup Link Master.
  6. Click Use as backup link master.
    Note:
    The box cannot be checked if the device is not Link Master capable.
  7. Commission the Link Master capable device to this placeholder.
    Note:
    Link Master devices should always be Commissioned. Unpredictable behavior could occur if a Link Master capable device is in Standby or Offline and the Primary Link Master device fails. Any temporary device should only be connected to the fieldbus as a Basic device.
