Auto-commission a wireless device

  1. Make sure the WIOC commission mode is Auto-commission.
  2. Create and download a device placeholder with settings that match the physical device to be commissioned.
  3. Attach the decommissioned device to the network.

The device long tag, manufacturer, device type, and revision are matched against the configured placeholders. If a placeholder’s device long tag contains the default device long tag (HART specified value for no tag which is a 32-character string filled with question mark (?) symbols, then the device long tag of the physical device is matched against the placeholder’s DeltaV device tag. If a match is found, the device ID and the device long tag of the placeholder are updated with the values read from the device. The placeholder is shown as commissioned. If there is more than one match, the first match found is commissioned.
