Start a Remote Client session

This procedure lists the basic steps for establishing a remote connection and logging into DeltaV. The first time you connect, you should click the Options button on the Remote Desktop Connection dialog and select connection settings on the various dialog tabs. After that, the settings for your user name are automatically saved from one session to the next.

  1. From the Windows task bar, select Start → All Programs → Accessories → Communications → Remote Desktop Connection.
  2. On the Remote Desktop Connection dialog, either browse for the name of the Remote Client server to which you want to connect or type its name in the Computer field.
  3. Click Connect.
  4. On the Log On to Windows dialog, enter your Windows user name and password.
    Note:
    At this point it may take several seconds for DeltaV to initialize, particularly on a slow connection.
  5. On the DeltaV Logon dialog, the server computer name and your user name appear in the Computer and User name fields, respectively. Enter your password and select a session.
    Note:
    Only those sessions that are available for your use (as defined by the reserved lists and not in use by another Remote Client node) appear in the list of sessions from which to select.
  6. After selecting a session, click OK.
