Physically decommission CIOCs and WIOCs

Unlike controllers, the ProfessionalPlus is not used to recommission WIOC and CIOC nodes. CIOC and WIOC commissioning information is stored in the I/O Port’s (IOP) nonvolatile memory (NVM). When a CIOC/WIOC is powered up, its hardware address is compared to the stored commissioning information. If the IOP and the CIOC/WIOC recognize that they were last commissioned together, the node is restored. If a physical change is detected, the commissioning information is discarded and the CIOC/WIOC comes up decommissioned.

Decommission a simplex CIOC or WIOC

  1. Remove the simplex WIOC or CIOC from its slot on the carrier.
  2. Install it in another slot on the carrier.

If you want to install the CIOC/WIOC in a particular slot, repeat the above steps after the CIOC/WIOC has initialized.

Decommission a redundant CIOC or WIOC pair

  1. Remove both CIOCs/WIOCs from the carrier.
  2. Swap the physical location of the CIOCs/WIOCs on the carrier.
