AMS Device Manager extends DeltaV software’s ability to work with FOUNDATION Fieldbus, HART, WirelessHART, and PROFIBUS-DP devices. The AMS Device Manager software is packaged with the DeltaV software on separate installation disks. After the DeltaV installation process has run Workstation Configuration, the system prompts you to install the AMS Device Manager software. You have two options:
Install AMS Device Manager software — this option installs an unlicensed version of AMS Device Manager software. The unlicensed version enables you to configure and set up devices, view and compare device configurations, access device diagnostics, and access device methods from DeltaV ProfessionalPlus and Professional workstations.
Install AMS Device Manager software and install an AMS Device Manager license — this option installs the full AMS Device Manager application. Run the AMS Licensing Wizard any time after installing AMS Device Manager. This provides you with fully functional AMS Device Manager software.
For WirelessHART devices, you should install the AMS Wireless SNAP-ON application. This application helps design and manage WirelessHART devices and networks.
If you don't install AMS Device Manager software your ability to work with fieldbus devices is limited. You can work extensively with HART, and PROFIBUS DP devices if AMS Device Manager is not installed. However, you cannot view device EDD screens.
