Workstations can be installed and configured on the DeltaV Control network, on a network connected to the DeltaV network, or as standalone workstations. The types of workstations available and the setup depends on the location of the workstation.
If the workstation is directly connected to the DeltaV network it will have a name and network address of 10.4.x.x assigned by DeltaV. Workstations directly connected to the DeltaV control network should only be set up by the DeltaV System Administrator. The types of workstations that can be on the DeltaV network are:
If you select Professional, Operator, Application, Base, or Inter-Zone Server, you will be asked to provide a workstation configuration file as part of configuring the workstation. This configuration file is generated by the DeltaV Explorer application in the ProfessionalPLUS.
The workstation is located on the plant LAN or other network outside of the DeltaV Control Network. Usually this is a remote workstation used for engineering or an Operator Station in a location away from the main control room or in a different geographic location.
