Stop alarm and event logging for unused Profibus DP devices

Alarms and events for unused Profibus DP devices that are left on the segment but scheduled to be powered-down are continuously logged in the DeltaV Historian. Follow these steps to prevent logging of alarms and events for unused Profibus DP devices.

  1. Disconnect both the green and red communication cables from the unused Profibus DP device.
    Note that logging continues if even one of the communication cables is connected.
  2. Verify that no alarms or events are being logged in the Historian.
  3. If alarms and events are still being logged, double-check that both communication cables have been disconnected from the Profibus DP device.
  4. Power down the devices that are to be removed from the Profibus DP segment.
