Develop a security scheme

Following are the typical steps for developing a security scheme:

  1. Create an account for each DeltaV system user.

  2. Determine the security requirements for specific parameter types and parameter fields.

  3. Name the locks in your security scheme and describe how the locks will be used.

  4. Create one or more groups to accommodate users with similar security requirements. Groups are not a required part of the scheme but can make security easier to manage if you have multiple users.

  5. Assign your users to the groups. A user can be assigned to more than one group.

  6. Grant keys to the groups to enable them to access and change parameters and parameter fields. You can also grant keys to individual users to enable control not granted to other members of the groups.

  7. In the DeltaV Explorer, assign locks to parameters and parameter fields.

  8. In the DeltaV Explorer, download each workstation.

  9. If a user is to have access to more than one workstation, go to the other workstation, add the user account and specify an initial password.

  10. Use DeltaV Autologon and DeltaVScreenSaver to define what happens when a user logs off or a session times out or is disconnected.
