Replicate a workgroup account

In a workgroup environment, each user must have a Windows and DeltaV database account with the same user name and password on every workstation in the DeltaV workgroup. Creating a user account in DeltaV User Manager creates the DeltaV database account on all workstations in the workgroup but creates a Windows account only on the local workstation.

Note

Do not replicate accounts in a domain environment. User account replication is a benefit of being in a domain environment.

To create the Windows account on all other workstations in a workgroup use the DeltaV User Manager Replicate command:

  1. On the User Manager main window, select one or more user accounts to replicate.
  2. Click File → Replicate Account.
  3. From the dialog that appears, select one or more workstations to replicate the accounts on.

A password dialog appears for the first account you are replicating. There are three options for completing the Password and Confirm Password fields on this dialog:

    1. Enter the configured password for the account named in the Account Name field. No further action is required on the target workstations to synchronize passwords. If you do not know the account password, use option b or c.
    2. Enter an arbitrary password. The user must change the password on the target workstations to match the configured password of the account.
    3. Leave the fields blank. The user must set the password to match the configured password when logging on to the target workstations.
    Note

The password must match the password policy requirements of the target workstation. You cannot replicate the password if it does not match the requirements. By default, a blank password does not match the password policy requirement set by DeltaV.

  4. Click OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for the remaining Windows user accounts you are replicating.
  6. Close the User Manager.
