Using the DeltaV Device Commissioner application

Automatic and manual execution of commissioning phases

The commissioning mode defaults selected in the active auto-commissioning policy determine whether DeltaV Device Commissioner performs specific parts of the device commissioning process automatically. Auto-commissioning policies are defined and selected for use in I/O Studio.

If the commissioning mode defaults for all commissioning phases are set to automatic mode, you can acquire an I/O node and click the Start Automatic Commissioning Mode button, shown below, and DeltaV Device Commissioner will perform all commissioning phases sequentially without further user action.

If the commissioning mode default for any commissioning phase is set to manual mode, you must select that phase when the previous phase is completed. Devices that have passed the previous phase appear on the tab for the next phase. Select the devices for DeltaV Device Commissioner to perform the next phase on, and then click the action button at the bottom right in DeltaV Device Commissioner.

If the active auto-commissioning policy allows modification of commissioning mode defaults in DeltaV Device Commissioner, and DeltaV Device Commissioner is not currently performing commissioning, you can use the settings button on the right side of the Start Automatic Commissioning Mode button to enable or disable automatic execution of one or more commissioning phases. Changes you make in this way affect only commissioning for the currently selected I/O node. Additionally, these changes affect only the current behavior of DeltaV Device Commissioner and do not affect the active auto-commissioning policy.
