Each HART and WirelessHART device configuration can include an automated loop test. You define loop tests in I/O Studio. Before you can start an automated loop test, the device must be auto-sensed, bound to I/O and associated with a control module that can read from and write to the device.
To initiate an automated loop test for a device, make sure the device is in the test phase, click the checkbox next to the device (or multiple devices), and click Start Test. You can also perform loop tests in Auto mode by including testing in the policy settings.
When an automated loop test sets the output of a WirelessHART device, the system publishes the output value after a delay time. This delay time is the publish rate of the device. The DeltaV Device Commissioner will not perform a loop test for WirelessHART devices with a publish rate of five minutes or greater. Make sure the publish rate for WirelessHART devices is less than five minutes.
When you add automated loop tests to the automatic commissioning mode defaults in I/O Studio, the software displays a checkbox enabling you to include output devices. If you do not check this, output devices will not be included in the test phase. They must be tested manually. If Test is added in the DeltaV Device Commissioner through the Adjust Automatic Commissioning Preferences, output devices will not be included.
