Binding sensed devices to CHARMs under CIOC I/O nodes

In binding sensed devices to CHARMs under CIOC I/O nodes, the DeltaV Device Commissioner application performs the following steps:

1. Allocates a device placeholder to a CHARM.
   • Configures the I/O properties of the CHARM.
   • Allocates a configured HART DST under the CHARM.
     Note

     If a matching unallocated device placeholder is not found in the system but a matching unassigned I/O reference exists, DeltaV Device Commissioner creates a device placeholder and allocates it to the CHARM. Depending on the preferences selected in the active auto-commissioning policy, the configuration values will all be based either on a master or on system default values.

2. Assigns the CHARM to the correct controller.
   • Determines which DeltaV control module references the DST associated with the device.
   • Determines which controller the module is assigned to.
   • Assigns the CHARM to that controller.
3. Reconciles the Tag, Long Tag, and Description between the Device Placeholder and the Field Device.
4. Adds the device to AMS Device Manager if AMS is installed.
5. Downloads the CHARM.
6. Downloads the control module. This step is optional, and you can configure whether to perform it in the policy.
