Binding sensed devices to I/O nodes

Binding wireless devices to WIOC I/O nodes

In binding wireless devices to WIOC I/O nodes, the DeltaV Device Commissioner application performs the following steps:

  1. Allocates a device placeholder to a WIOC. The wireless device placeholder under the WIOC contains both I/O Properties and HART Device Alerts properties.
    Note

If a matching unallocated device placeholder is not found in the system but a matching unassigned I/O reference exists, DeltaV Device Commissioner creates a device placeholder and allocates it to the WIOC. Depending on the preferences selected in the active auto-commissioning policy, the configuration values will all be based either on a master or on system default values.

  2. Reconciles the Tag, Long Tag, and Description between the Device Placeholder and the Field Device.
  3. Adds the device to AMS Device Manager if AMS is installed.
  4. Assigns the device to the controller to which the module that references the device placeholder is assigned.
  5. Downloads the wireless device placeholder and the module.
