Sensing devices using the DeltaV Device Commissioner application

Sensing devices under a CSLS I/O node

When you use the DeltaV Device Commissioner application to sense devices under a CSLS, the application performs the following steps:

  1. Senses all LS CHARMs under the CSLS.
  2. Identifies all Analog Input and two-state DVC CHARMs.
  3. Senses all HART devices connected to Analog Input CHARMs.
    Note

If an Analog Input CHARM is already configured and is not configured for HART Analog Input, the application does not sense devices connected to that CHARM.

  4. Senses all HART devices connected to unconfigured two-state DVC CHARMs.
    Note

For configured two-state DVC CHARMs, connected devices will be sensed either if current is present in the wire or if the OFF_CURRENT parameter of the CHARM is set to 4 mA. If the OFF_CURRENT parameter is set to 0 mA and there is no current present in the wire, a connected device will not be sensed and the application will add an item to the punchlist for the CHARM.
